Fried Chicken Wings
Savour on this delicious crispy fried chicken wings which can be found in a small little coffee shop  around the commonwealth food centre area where many HDB are surrounded. The Chickens wings are TO DIE FOR as they are usually fried in batches to maintain the crispiness and it being "hot" consistency when customer order them. The Chicken wing is fried to perfection being crispy, moist and succulent on the inside making it very addictive. Each chicken wing cost about S$1.20 and you can even have other stuffs like fried been hoon and also other dishes that they offer to as side dishes!

Overall, the place seem rundown but serves up fried chicken wings which are a killer to fried chicken lovers and the price is reasonable!

Famous Beach Road Prawn Noodles

Prawn Noodles
This Particular Prawn noodle stall was originally from Beach Road area and is very famous for many years. Their Signature dish is obviously their prawn noodles and you can order them either dry or in their lovely soup! They come in a variety of sizes and combination either just prawns or with spare ribs etc.

The one that i order as shown above had an addition of pig's tail. The prawn was cooked to perfection as it was not too rubbery and the pig's tail was soft and tender as well. The ingredients are quite generous and the the one ingredients that made the whole dish shine was the lovely fried shallots as the garnish and some pieces of PORK LARD which you don't find hawkers use these days as it can be bad  for health! Not forgetting that bowl of soup that comes with it when you are eating the dry version of  the prawn noodles. You could really taste the essence of the prawn being cooked out in the that bowl of lovely goodness and the spices used in the soup made it flavoursome and rich in once mouth!

Overall, this prawn noodle is by far one of the BEST I ever had and I am definitely coming back for it!

Dinner at West Coast Food Centre!!

Mutton Soup
Having troubles find ing a nice place to have decent Malay food? Well, here is one place you should never miss! At Ayer Rajah Food Centre, Located around the West Coast area of SG, one can try on some of the many types of Malay food the place has to offer! The Mutton Soup above tasted fabulous with the rich soupy base and the aroma of spices used to flavour the broth. The mutton was nice a tender having not much of the so called "LAMB SMELL" as interpreted from the Chinese way of saying. This dish will sure warm p the body on a cold night!

Indian Rojak

This particular dish above is quite popular among the Indians themselves. This is a so called Indian Version of the Chinese famous ROJAK dish! As you can see from above, the amount of ingredients in this plate of lovely goodness is just a few of the many varieties the stall has to offer. For the one I ordered, it only consisted of fishcakes, fried prawn sort of cakes and potato. the garnishes are of simply sliced cucumbers and green chillies! However, the thing that makes the dish SHINES is that awesome sauce that comes with it! That sweet, sour taste with the slightness of heat makes one SALIVATE to have more upon dipping the ingredients into it!

Mee Goreng

I was craving for some noodle dish when i stumble upon a stall which seem quite good and ordered a plate of fried Mee Goreng. Looking at this dish, i was enticed when the is a lovely fried sunny egg placed on top of the aromatic fried noodles. The RUNNY EGG YOLK compliments the dish and the noodle were slightly spicy too which was too my liking. There were a few simple ingredients in the noodles like shredded meat pieces, potato green chilli. the garnishes at the sides are simple cuts of cucumber and chilli sauce. the dish itself was slightly salty but well overall it tasted great!

Malay Satay
Last but not least, We have the Malay Satay! The Satay was delicious as the Mutton Satay definitely tasted better than the chicken. The Chicken Satay one was slightly dry to my liking while the mutton one was tender and succulent. Both satay was filled with aromatic spices making the overall dish a pleasant one. Not forgetting the sauce which compliments the whole dish!

Overall the experience at the Ayer Rajah Food centre was surprising a pleasant one. Being able to try some decent and flavoursome foods was a joy for me! Hope to come by again to try something else or just STICK WITH THE USUAL!

Showdown of the Katong Laksa!!

Original Katong Nonya Laksa
The Laksa as you can see above is said to be The Original Marine Parade Katong Laksa. This laksa is located inside Roxy Square an have been serving the traditional Nonya style laksa for more than 50 years. This broth of this laksa has sort of slight seafood taste to it and the amount of coconut milk added is not that strong making it palatable to most taste buds of locals and even foreigners.

328 Katong Laksa
The Laksa above is the famous 328 Katong Laksa which is said to be the original Laksa in Katong. This particular laksa to me is sort of more richer in taste and the amount of milk added. The broth taste is richer in the prawn flavour. The chilli paste is the killer as the amount one adds helps to amplify the flavour of the laksa broth. In terms of price wise, the 328 Katong laksa seems more worth in the amount of ingredients in there.

Overall, the showdown between the two laksa stalls was rather interesting as i got to taste two of the famous laksa around the Katong area. Both tasted brilliantly. However, the ultimate verdict is that if you are a person whom loves a richer flavour in the broth and love the chilli paste that goes with it and also value for money, then go for the 328 stall. But then again if you are looking for a a more traditional flavour and palatable to the taste buds of most consumers as the taste of the broth is much more mild then go for the one at Roxy square. Ultimately, it's once preference!
